ABOUT US
The #ONESHOT Hair Awards was created by behindthechair.com 10 years ago as an opportunity to honor and celebrate hairdressers who were doing real hair behind the chair every single day in their salons and who were not otherwise being acknowledged.
We also wanted to create an awards program with complete transparency, where every hairdresser participating would be able to see all the work being entered from around the world.
To make this awards program a reality, we employed the posting power of Instagram and the strong editorial eye of our team to create an awards program that has become the world’s largest and most prestigious with over 2 million entries having been submitted from more than 100 countries!
#ONESHOT features two distinct competitions, each with its own set of categories:
Celebrates the work of hairdressers doing real hair behind the chair. Submissions include the work they do on their actual clients and often shot on a cell phone.
Celebrates the work of artists who are creating editorial hairdressing looks often shot in studios by a professional photographer.
The #ONESHOT Hair Awards is produced by behindthechair.com – the world’s largest media company for hairdressers.
Behind the Chair was launched in March 2000 by Mary Rector as a dream to bring the world of hairdressing to the hairdressers of the world.
Today, we are celebrating 25 years and we welcome more than 10MM hairdressers annually to our website and social media channels.
